She has been working in the arts for over 20 years and has exhibited her work in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Gaigalas explores themes of identity, memory, and displacement through a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, and video. Her work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions, including the Art Gallery of Ontario, the National Gallery of Canada, and the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art. Gaigalas is also an active educator, teaching at the University of Toronto and the Ontario College of Art and Design. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards and grants, including the Toronto Arts Council Visual Arts Mid-Career Grant and the Canada Council for the Arts Grants for Professional Visual Artists.
