Marion Bott was born in Germany in 1868. She became a successful businesswoman and was the first female to be admitted to the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Bott was an advocate for women's rights and was a founding member of the German Association for Women's Work. She was a member of the Social Democratic Party and was one of the first women to be elected to the German Parliament in 1919. In 1920, she became the first female to serve as a cabinet minister in Germany. Bott was a tireless campaigner for women's rights and worked to pass legislation that increased protections for women in the workplace. She died in 1932.
