Julia Roy is a professional dancer, choreographer and educator. She has been teaching and performing since 2001. Her work has been presented in festivals, theatres and galleries in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. She is a graduate of the National Ballet School of Canada and holds a BFA in Dance from Concordia University. Roy has received many awards, including the Canada Council for the Arts Joseph S. Stauffer Prize and the Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award. She is currently the Artistic Director of the Montreal-based dance company, Julia Roy Dance. Roy is passionate about creating innovative works that explore human relationships and the physicality of the body. Her work is often described as highly physical, passionate and emotionally charged.
