Helen Kennedy (b.1932) is a pioneering Canadian journalist and author. She was the first woman to be appointed as a full-time reporter at the Toronto Star in 1959. In the early 1960s, she became the first female television news reporter in Canada. Kennedy wrote several books, including "The Last of the Wild Horses" (1970), "The War of the Birds" (1971) and "The Great Canadian Adventure" (1975). Her work has been featured in several magazines, including Maclean's and Chatelaine. Kennedy was inducted into the Canadian News Hall of Fame in 1998 and was awarded the Order of Canada in 2006. She continues to be a strong advocate for women in the media and is a mentor to many aspiring journalists.
