Philippine Pierre-Brossolette was a French Resistance fighter during World War II. She was a member of the French Resistance network Combat and was the only female member of the organizations leadership team. She was also a journalist and an author, writing about her experiences in the Resistance and the role of women in the war. Pierre-Brossolette was arrested by the Gestapo in 1943 and eventually executed in 1944. She was later posthumously awarded the Legion of Honor for her bravery and dedication to the cause of freedom.
